APSA HOSTS EXCLUSIVE SCREENING OF SAMSON & DELILAH AHEAD OF ITS CANNES DEBUT
The Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA) proudly presented an exclusive preview at the Gold Coast Arts Centre of one of the most highly anticipated films of this year, the debut feature from Warwick Thornton, Samson & Delilah. APSA, in association with Footprint Films, hosted one of the first screenings of the film following its “red dirt” hometown premiere in Alice Springs. Director-Writer-Cinematographer, Warwick Thornton and producer Kath Shelper were guests of honour at the event and participated in a Q&A session following the film which was hosted by Maxine Williamson APSAs Associate Producer, Awards Competition. Thornton and Shelper are currently touring nationally ahead of the film’s Australian release on May 7th and their upcoming trip to the 62nd Cannes International Film Festival where Samson & Delilah will screen in the prestigious Un Certain Regard. Un Certain Regard is the same official selection category of the festival that has previously propelled Australian films such as Ten Canoes, Japanese Story and Love Serenade onto the international stage.
Special guests at the event included Gold Coast Arts Centre Chairman, Mr Kerry Watson; Gold Coast City Councillor, Margaret Grummit; Vice Patron of the Academy of the Asia Pacific Screen Awards, Alicia Mayer Beverley; Queensland Screen Industry Council Member, Shirley Pierce; and acclaimed indigenous artist, Glennys Briggs.
Samson & Delilah will be in competition for the Third Annual Asia Pacific Screen Awards.
